Okay so these Maryland Cookies ‘n’ Cream aren’t strictly new. They certainly won’t be as exciting as the new Mint Choc ones (available in B&M review from Kev here), but that being said they are new to our local Sainsbury’s. If you think of cookies and cream I bet you’re thinking of Oreo’s, because they are kind on the cookies and cream flavour. Many other biscuits have tried to nail it but sadly the Oreo remains champion.
These are available in mainstream supermarkets and cost around 75p – £1.00 a pack. Maryland have expanded their range in a few different ways but each one I have tried like these Dessert Cookies have fallen below par! Let’s see if these Cookies ‘n’ Cream can break that trend.
Described as an ‘incredibly moreish teat’ I have to whole heartedly disagree. They are kind of reminiscent of a naff Oreo cookie. These cookies, although have some cocoa element, they are lacklustre in flavour and would have expected something far richer. The white chocolate chips sadly do not bring all that much to the cookie table and what I couldn’t understand is why each cookie had a whole in the middle like it wanted to be a ringed doughnut ….. Texture wise they are quite dry and crumbly, and not like the OG Maryland Cookies.
If you hadn’t guessed already these Maryland Cookies ‘n’ Cream are not a fave. They would have been much nicer if they had more of a punch of flavour, and were less artificially sweet.
Now I wonder how the mint choc version with fair!!
Nibbles ‘n’ Scribbles x
I am with you on Maryland cookies, they just seem to lack that bit of pnch. They do though for an afternoon snack with a cuppa. Will have to try the mint version out too!
Thanks for sharing!
