Tesco Rhubarb and Custard Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross bun season is well and truly upon us and new flavours have been hitting the shelves. From the savoury of the cheesy bun to the sweet blueberry or apple and cinnamon, it’s certainly a who’s who’s of flavour combos. The one I immediately needed to try was the Tesco Rhubarb and Custard Hot Cross Buns. These are made with sweetened dough with added rhubarb puree, freeze dried rhubarb, dried cream and vanilla flavouring. Each for pack is £1.80 each and are currently included in the 2 for £3 deal. They sound promising and look fabulous, but what do…

Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cream Egg

The viral Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cream Egg has hit shelves and is taking on the Creme Egg head on. Yes Easter has been taking over the supermarket aisles since Christmas but I think we can safely say we are now all here for it. Each egg retails for 70p each and some stores are offering 2 for £1.20. These have been spotted in Co-Op, B&M, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons. They smell exactly like the OG and are not particularly sealed well so are easy to split in half to reveal the fluorescent orange filling. The chocolate it think and creamy…

Currently in all major supermarkets these are 65p each with some stores doing a deal if you buy multiple. Hint buy more you won’t regret it. Alternatively you can also purchase these in mini bunny form. Each chunky bunny is made from milk chocolate and filled with a popcorn flavoured malt filling (35%) and corn crumble pieces (2.2%). I confess when I purchased these I wasn’t holding my breath but…

Battle of the Gingerbread Biscuits

It’s a trio of snacks here today all sporting the Christmas theme. Yes it is time for the battle of the gingerbread biscuits and our contenders are McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Digestives, Oreo and Sainsbury’s Custard Creams. Gingerbread certainly seems to be the flavour of Christmas this year and I am here for it. I managed to get all three in Sainsbury’s and the prices ranged from 65p – £1.90. The Oreo Gingerbread were the worst of all and the only good thing going for them is the cute little gingerbread design on the front of the biscuit. They have a…

Eating Out at Honest Burger – Reading

It has been a while since we have done a restaurant review so whilst on an evening out in Reading we decided to visit Honest Burger. This British burger restaurant first opened its doors in Brixton in 2011 and have expanded to Brighton, Bristol, Reading, and all over London. They promise to make everything they can and source as much of their ingredients locally. The menu is refined to a handful of items per category and you can choose from either beef, chicken, vegetarian or vegan. Smashed beef patty, American cheese, brown butter mustard mayo, white onion and pickles. Beef…
