Krispy Kreme Gingerbread Ring and Bonfire Toffee

Krispy Kreme Gingerbread Ring and Bonfire Toffee

Halloween is well and truly over and we are onto Bonfire Night. So put down your candy because Krispy Kreme Gingerbread Ring and Bonfire Toffee is here to keep you company this bonfire season.

Keeping it very much under the radar, Krispy Kreme only let on of these scrumptious sounding treats along with 2 new drinks – Gingerbread Latte and Bonfire Toffee Shake late last night. There is no hiding the doughnuts from me, and the fact gingerbread has made an entrance there was no way I was not getting it today.

Krispy Kreme Gingerbread RingA ring doughnut dipped in ginger flavoured icing & topped with caramelised biscuit crumb then drizzled with ginger flavoured icing.

This little ringed goody cost slightly less than its Bonfire Toffee compadre coming in at £1.75. I am gingerbread obsessed so this little beauty got me all giddy at even the mention of it. It certainly looked delicious with its sticky icing and nobbly biscuit topping, and when cut open it revealed an airy light dough of perfection. Taking that all important bite the textures were balanced well, the biscuit topping provided a sweet caramelised flavour, and the dough was as perfect as it can be. The icing is where the flavour is at and certainly provided that warming feeling. The ginger flavour is more potent than perhaps a gingerbread cake which is more mellow and smooth, however the ginger element was certainly present and made for a darn good doughnut.

Krispy Kreme Bonfire ToffeeFilled with sticky toffee, dipped in chocolate flavour coating & topped with dark chocolate pieces & caramel balls, drizzled with caramel flavour icing.

This little rounded ball of dough cost £1.90. On looks alone it certainly follows the format of pretty much all Krispy Kreme chocolatey topped doughnuts, but it was missing that shiny top and it all pretty much cracked off once I cut into it. Opening up, the dough was as fluffy and delightful as it it looked. The filling although present, would have aided from a bit more but the taste was like a rich indulgent Werthers Original, and I just want a jar of the stuff. It certainly had that warming element and I think would go perfectly alongside a hot chocolate.

For once I am actually excited by these new Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The Gingerbread Ring is genius and delightful and the Bonfire Toffee although not ground breaking, the sticky toffee filling is certainly what makes it a winning doughnut.

If you want to get your hands on these two, which I suggest that you do, they are available from today until 4th December in Krispy Kreme Stores and Cabinets. Which means I sense there will be some Christmas doughnuts… EEEK!
