Asda Peanut Butter Cheesecake

Asda New Peanut Butter Cheesecake

I am throwing it out there but I do not see the fascination of cheesecake. Aside from the biscuit base I am not all that in love with cheesecake and would rather sink my teeth into a different dessert. That said my taste buds were alight when I spied the Asda Peanut Butter Cheesecake whilst on my recent travels. Could this be the one that converts me into a cheesecake lover?

Asda Peanut Butter Cheesecake

Part of Asda’s Extra Special Range this Peanut Butter Cheesecake was £4.00, pretty much an average price for the going cheesecake in supermarkets. This one serves 6 which is far more reasonable that the 12 serving I see on others. Does anyone really only have a slither of a dessert?

Asda Extra Special Peanut Butter CheesecakeLayers of peanut butter caramel and smooth chocolate ganache on a bed of honeycomb and crumbly biscuit, hand finshed with a honeycomb sprinkle

The layers were clearly evident and there looked to be a thick layer of peanut butter caramel, huzzah! Going in for a bite I got an initial hit of nutty peanut butter followed by an overwhelming rich chocolate flavour that abolished any flavour that was given by the peanut butter. Subsequent bites and all I could taste was chocolate. The biscuity base was of a good ratio, a little short and had a bite to it which I loved but I certainly couldn’t detect a honeycomb bed. When it came to the honeycomb sprinkle seriously what was that? Was there a shortage in the Asda factory? Lets just say there is going to be a scuffle between diners on who gets the honeycomb!

What was initially a promising peanut butter delight of a cheesecake did not translate overall. The chocolate is far too dominant and after one mouthful that is all that you are going to taste. Such a shame but sadly this Asda Peanut Butter Cheesecake has not changed my cheesecakey perceptions.

Oh dear! It certainly doesn’t look very deep at all!!! Virtually looks as if there’s nothing there. I must say I’m a big fan of cheesecake (I’m the opposite love the cheesecake not a big lover of the base) but don’t think I’ll be rushing out to buy this one, I’m not sure whether it’s the same recipe but I know they used to do 2 small peanut butter cheesecakes that I tried and wasn’t particularly impressed with 🙁

Haha you can have my topping and I’ll have your biscuity base :). I would imagine it would be the same as their mini ones to be fair, such a shame that they missed the mark. If you are going to say peanut butter cheesecake then load the thing with peanut butter!! xx

Oh dear that topping is certainly missing – such a shame – don’t think then that I shall rush out and purchase this…. Shame that they seem to have got it so wrong :0(

Certainly missed a trick here!! Not worth it at all, unless you like a lot of chocolate 🙂 xx
