Christmas seems to be infiltrating our shelves already but I say get out the way Christmas because Halloween is coming to town! What better way to kick off the Halloween season than with candy corn, but not just your average joe candy corn but Brach’s Peanut Butter Candy Corn.
Candy corn isn’t so much of an OMG over here but in the US it seems to be everywhere come the spooky holiday. I spied these online and let’s face it I couldn’t not pass on the opportunity to have peanut butter candy corn now could I?
For a whopping 255g bag of candy corn it cost £2.99 which I didn’t think was too shabby for an import. With its familiar tri-colour triangle, or to you and I coke like bottle candy pieces, Brach’s have been rather bold and smooshed together chocolate and peanut butter to create this candy corn.
I have to admit I really thought they would be quite squishy but they were really short in texture and quite crumbly when eaten. Giving it a sniff I could detect the faint smell of peanut butter but it wasn’t exactly inviting. Throwing a few down the hatch these had a slight peanut butter cup undertone but more like candied peanut butter and very synthetic. The chocolate flavouring, if you can call it that was chemically and just plain odd, not at all like chocolate and I really do not understand the thoughts behind ‘real honey’. Together these really didn’t work well and were pretty grim.
Well these Brach’s Peanut Butter Cup Candy Corn are not at all pleasant. The texture is odd, the flavours don’t work and I think the lesson learnt here is peanut butter cups should not be morphed into candy corn. The end! Skip past these people and move onto other sweets.
See you tomorrow for another Monster Munchies review…
