Ugly Drinks

Ugly Drinks

I’ll be honest I cannot see the point in sparkling water. Why do I want to drink plain fizzy water that dries the mouth rather than quenches the thirst? Anyone else in this same camp? A couple of weeks ago the lovely people at Ugly drinks contacted me asking if I would be interested in trying their new sparkling fruity water. Now I am intrigued to see if they can change my opinion on sparkling water so let’s get our #glugugly on.

What is Ugly and why call a drink this? Well in a nutshell Joe & Hugh have decided enough is enough and it is time for change. Say goodbye to drinks that are packed to brim with artificial flavours, sweetners and goodness knows what because Ugly Drinks are in town. ‘Ugly isn’t dressed up to look pretty, it’s unsweet and has nothing to hide. It’s just sparkling water infused with natural fruit flavours. Because you’re sweet enough already’. A drink that flatters its beholder, I like it already!

Glugugly

Isn’t this the funkiest packaging ever! I love it!! So far Ugly Drinks come in two flavours Lemon & Lime and Grapefruit & Pineapple and lucky for me I have both to try. Aside from the design and fun loving quotes, I love that they have put a foil over the can top to ensure you always have a clean germ free top!

Ugly Drinks – Lemon & Lime*

Ugly Lemon and LimeCracking open the Lemon & Lime there was a subtly smell of flavour. Of the two I was slightly apprehensive of this flavour and thought it would be pretty sharp and sour however I was pleasantly surprised. The flavours as suggested are natural, authentic and a balance of lemon and lime. If anything this does remind me a little of 7Up. It was refreshingly ice cold but if anything I kind of wanted a bit more of a flavour hit.

Ugly Drinks – Pineapple & Grapefruit*

Ugly Grapefruit and Pineapple

This smelt delightfully tropical and very akin to Lilt. Like their other flavour the taste is not as intense as it smells but the flavour still comes through. The balance between sharp grapefruit and sweet pineapple is just right and this was by far my favourite of the two. It was refreshing and easy to sip on and not as dry as the Lemon and Lime.

And that concludes getting our #glugugly on. If you love sparkling water you are going to love Ugly. Out of the two the Grapefruit and Pineapple would be the one I choose again and again. Although I want more of an intense flavour as it stands it is a nice refreshing drink and one I would buy again. Am I a sparkling water convert? No. I certainly wouldn’t order a plain sparkling water but I am however far more open to the idea of flavoured sparkling water so for that thank you Ugly Drinks, and a huge thank you for sending me these to try.

I must admit…I’m a sparkling water lover lol. Albeit with some lemon juice squeezed in. I’ve seen Ugly Water locally, but meh the price is too much. Ill stick with my fizzy boring mineral water thanks 🙂
