Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin

Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin

Happy Gin Wednesday! Gin has certainly exploded and you can pretty much buy it anywhere, and in any flavour. I’m relatively late to the gin party and only really started enjoying it a couple of years back. Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin is a newbie, and I first spotted it in Asda back in February.

Originally this was nestled amongst the Valentine’s display but does not appear to be limited edition. This was exclusive to Asda, both in-stores and online, however you can now find this online on other drink outlets. RRP is £25.00 but is usually on offer in Asda for £20.00 for 70cl.

Inspired by the citrus groves of Spain this Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin is infused with Iberian Pink Grapefruit. It promises a delicate sweetness with citrusy notes that gives way to a balanced grapefruit burst. This screams summer and sounds delightfully refreshing doesn’t it?

New Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit GinThere are a many ways in which you can enjoy this, however I opted to pair it simply with a Luscombe Tonic. Dare I say that I was actually disappointed in this. This is probably the first time I’ve not enjoyed a Whitley Neill tipple. Why? Well the flavour just wasn’t there, at all. Whilst there was a hint of botanicals the actual pink grapefruit and zest that you’d expect was completely lacking. Instead of that grapefruit burst that was promised it just tasted like a general G&T.  As for the colour I was expecting a slightly pink hue to match the bottle, however this was crystal clear.

I so wanted this Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin to be zingy, fragrant, fruity and uplifting however in comparison it just came across as a simple G&T. With an infusion you know that this isn’t going to be overpowering in taste, however at the very least it should resemble the flavour.

Have you tried this Gin yet? What are your thoughts?
