It seems that Chocolate Orange is the flavour to be had! We have had the yummy Chocolate Orange Twirls, The Cadbury Orange Mousse Snowman and Hotel Chocolat Orange Chocolate Wafers to name a few. Now it is the turn for these Mr Kipling Chocolate Orange Whirls.
These were in Tesco and on offer for £1.00. As always there are six in a box which sit in a plastic tray (tut tut). Upon opening the whirls were a wee bit mismatch, with most of the filling splodged out of one side.
The Mr Kipling Chocolate Orange Whirls sit amongst Iced Top Mince Pies, Winter Whirls, Festive Bakewells, Mint Fancies, Irish Creme Fancies (Review from the fab Eat Explore Etc) and Candy Cane Slices.
These are “Chocolate flavoured shortcake whirls with an orange flavour filling and chocolate sauce”. There is no hydrogenated fat or artificial colourings, and are suitable for vegetarians.

The chocolate is good, the orange is zesty and the shortcake whirls have a nice cocoa taste to them. Crumbly was the apt word here and the slightest bite was enough to make it crumble. Some parts of the whirls were a bit on the dry side given there was no filling on parts, which is shame. However when you get the biscuit, cream and sauce in one bite, it is scrummy! Nice chocolatey orange flavour and a good edition to the whirl family, even if temporary.
Have you tried any of the new Christmas range? What should I try next?
