Last week saw the turn of Metcalfe’s Jumbles Eton Mess Popcorn and today it is the turn of it’s compadre Metcalfe’s Jumbles Toffee Apple Popcorn. If you read my review then you will know that Metcalfe’s have released two new flavours which promise to be a completely new popcorn experience.
Available in most supermarkets and online, this popcorn is gluten free, veggie friendly, and made without artificial flavours and colourings. RRP is £1.79 and the bag is 55g. As with most popcorn, crisps and snack packs there is an excess of packaging in comparison to actual contents.
Metcalfe’s have chosen another very sweet treat and given us “a mix of caramel flavour coated popped corn and toffee apple flavour popped corn with sugar and sweeteners and dried apple slices”.
The certainly looked inviting and I like the use of fresh dried apple slices. The popcorn was popped to perfection, some were singular pieces, and some were clumped together with sweet golden caramel. If you got one of those clusters you were a winner. Although the apple pieces look great, smaller pieces are better if you want to enjoy a handful of both.
Of the two I preferred the Metcalfe’s Jumbles Toffee Apple Popcorn. The combination of popcorn, caramel and apple pieces seemed to work much better and more consistent. There was some flavour to it however there was room for more. Normally you want something that makes you want to keep going back for more, but that was lacking here.
Have you given these Jumbles a go? What are your thoughts?
Metcalfe’s plans to add new flavours to the line in January 2020. Any guesses to what these flavours might be?
