Breyers Delights Cookies and Cream Ice Cream

Breyers Delight Cookies and Cream

Love ice cream but trying to watch what you eat? Well there could be an alternative that will allow you to have your ice cream and eat it too. I have had my eye on Breyers Delights Cookies and Cream Ice Cream for quite a while and I am hoping it can deliver on its promise.

Breyers Delights is a healthy alternative that boasts considerably lower calories than other tubs of ice cream, as well as lower sugar and higher protein, all the while still containing cream. How is this possible? Surely there must be a catch? Retailing at a pricey £5.00 a tub, you can get this and their other flavours in all major supermarkets. Let’s hope at this price it is worth it….

Breyers Delights Cookies and Cream Ice CreamPer 2 scoops: 70 kcal, 1.2g sat fat, 5.5g sugar, 3.9g protein.

First glance the consistency is more on the air of ice than it is smooth creamy ice cream. Waiting for it to defrost really did test my patience, even after a good five minutes it was still pretty solid in the middle hence the rubbish attempt at scoops because waiting was no longer an option.

The ice cream was surprisingly sweet and definitely gave it that dessert feel. The actual ice cream tasted creamy and had a relatively solid vanilla taste to it. The mini cookies were in abundance, albeit mostly on the one side of the tub, so zero points on even distribution. The cookies still had some crunchy texture to them however they tasted odd. I don’t think I am wrong in expecting these to taste like cookies am I? Because they really tasted a little earthy, which isn’t a good thing and put me off eating the rest of it.

Sadly the Breyers Delights Cookies and Cream Ice Cream didn’t hit the mark for me. My expectations were not sky high as a healthy ice cream is never going to taste as indulgent as a tub of luxury stuff, however I was left disappointed, particularly with the cookie aspect. I wonder if it were just this flavour so I may well give their Mint or the Creamy Chocolate a try and see how they fair. Presently though Oppo is still my favourite guilt free ice cream on the market.

What are your thoughts on Breyers Delight Ice Cream? Is it worth me trying the other flavours?

I have seen a lot of hype about this ice cream and to be honest I’m not that surprised you are underwhelmed by it, I think you’re right it’s because it’s a healthier ice cream it lacks that indulgence we all like because that’s the main reason we buy it!xx
