Would you believe that over 1 billion are devoured each year!! That is a lot of Jaffa Cakes and fans can rejoice as there are two new flavours on the block. We are going full on fruit bowl with the addition of McVitie’s Cherry Jaffa Cakes and Passionfruit Jaffa Cakes and these join the OG Orange, Strawberry and the best flavour ever to be made, Pineapple.
It is going to be tough to beat the Pineapple Jaffa Cakes, and ever since trying them I have had quite the addiction. The set up is the same as the others, chocolate on top, sponge on the bottom. As expected the middle layer promises a tangy cherry fruity bit.
These are available in all major supermarkets and online and retail at around £1.20 per pack of 10.
These Jaffa Cakes are as hoped soft and springy. The cherry flavour is more tangy and a little sour which is a nice surprise, and one that works well with the chocolate. It is not an overwhelming cherry flavour, more subtle and gets a little lost against all the sponge.
On the whole these McVitie’s Cherry Jaffa Cakes are a nice little addition. The flavour is there but could do with more of a punch. The pineapple ones are still 100% the best, it is going to take some doing to knock these off the top spot.
