The elusive KitKat Chunky Cookie Dough has been found! I was seriously beginning to think it didn’t exist down in Surrey but it seems to have finally hit the shelves. This is the newest addition to the KitKat Chunky family and I am hoping this is as delicious as it sounds. Let’s face it there hasn’t been a good KitKat Chunky since the Peanut Butter so it is about time.
Nestle seem to have given it more thought this time round and pulled a more exciting flavour out the bag and certainly caught people’s attention. Free from all those nasty colours and flavours, this bar is also suitable for vegetarians, but sadly as expected it isn’t gluten free or vegan friendly.
Crisp wafer finger with a creamed cookie dough topping (19%) covered with milk chocolate (60%). Per Serving: 224 kcal, 6.8g sat fat, 21.7g sugar, 3.2g protein
Although similar in colour you can certainly distinguish the layers. There was no real cookie dough smell just a sickly sweet aroma. Taking a good old bite I have to say there really wasn’t much difference to a standard KitKat. There was the slightest of cookie dough taste but really not enough to make it instantly recognisable. The ratio of wafer to chocolate to filling just wasn’t right and the filling just wasn’t punchy enough to fight its way through all the other elements. Although there is nothing wrong with the chocolate I am not a fan of the way the chocolate is so much thicker in some parts to others and really doesn’t help the filling situation.
I would be wrong to say I didn’t like it because I did. It is for those days when you want a really sweet chocolate day but to say it is KitKat Cookie Dough would be wrong, and it certainly will never supersede the Peanut Butter KitKat. Come on Nestle you can do better than this!
