Situated in the small village of Burley in the heart of the New Forest, this family run business has been hand making fudge since 1998. Today’s review of the Burley Fudge Chocolate Orange Fudge seems quite apt given we appear to be in the midst of a choccie orange explosion.
I first came across Burley Fudge after searching for a small business local foodie gift. It went down so well that it got reciprocated and a little fudge pressie was sent my way too. There is quite the selection of fudges, some unexpected, and most definitely at least one for everyone. From traditional Scottish Butter Tablet to Banoffee Pie, Cherry Bakewell, Malteaser and Eton Mess to name a few. If vegan is what you are looking for they even have you covered there.
Coming in 200g or 600g bags, there are various offers online including subscription box, gift boxes or pick your own assortment.
Chocolate Fudge flavoured with orange oil and topped with candied orange
In comparison to the other two flavours I have had from here, this one wasn’t as crumbly, and the texture more chewy. There was a lovely chocolatey flavour, that wasn’t bitter or overpowering. The orange flavour was quite subdued yet still recognisable. The addition of candid orange is a great one and when you had a piece of this, the orange flavour was more punchy and zesty.
On the whole the Burley Fudge Chocolate Orange Fudge was just as delicious as the other flavours. I like the use of the extra fruit and the chocolate aspect is a nice change to traditional fudge. It doesn’t quite beat their special edition Biscoff Fudge which was incredible, but it is certainly up there!
