Anyone else a sucker for a new KitKat? Although the promo for this has been a little quiet. This Limited Edition KitKat Chunky Hazelnut Cream has either completely passed me by and been in stores for months or is new. Diehard KitKat fans may be screaming it’s not new, and you would be right. Sometime ago they did release these on the low keys side of things in smaller shops and then they just disappeared.
These were found in the local Tesco Express and were 80p each. If you cannot find them in store you can also get them online.
Each chunky bar consists of 3 sections of a crispy wafer topped with a layer of hazelnut spread, coated in a layer of smooth milk chocolate. Full disclosure nuts and nutty flavour in chocolate is not my thing so let’s give this a go.
One of the best things about a KitKat Chunky is the decent layer of chocolate you get with it! Here is no exception. The bar does smell pretty nutty which is a good start given the filling. The hazelnut cream is distinct, and has a smooth nutty flavour that really comes through. It is not overpowering and the addition of the wafer layers gives it the texture these two creamy components need.
I am really surprised by this KitKat Chunky Hazelnut Cream. Despite thinking it would be a hater, it is actually really nice! Would I bypass a PB or the Biscoff one for this, no, but in their absence I would happily eat another.
