Buttermilk Gingerbread Honeycomb, could it be as fantastic as it sounds? These artisan confectioners are known for their buttery fudge, chewy honeycomb and varying brittles, and come the festive season even they cannot resist getting into the spirit of things. With endless choices the Buttermilk Gingerbread Honeycomb is certainly the one that caught my eye, how can they combine the two?
Handmade in their kitchen’s in Cornwall, these sizeable chunks of honeycomb are suitable for vegetarians, have no nasty artificial flavourings and are gluten free. A 150g box comes in at £3.99. I love the cute packaging, it may just be a clear bag sitting in a box but the cute Christmassy details and colours on the front are a lovely addition.

The honeycomb was spot on, the glistening golden bubbles were a good indicator for the iconic chewiness that comes with the honeycomb territory. The dark slightly bitter chocolate coating was perfect for the sweet honeycomb however there was a distinct lack of gingerbread. A hint of warming spices was there but nothing that packed a punch and made me think instinctively of gingerbread. With only 1% ginger listed in the ingredients it’s no wonder that it is very hard to detect.
It’s sad to say that although this is some top notch chocolate coated honeycomb, it misses the mark when it comes to gingerbread. It seems that when it comes to flavouring honeycomb it is a little on the tricky side and this Buttermilk Gingerbread Honeycomb sits alongside Mighty Fine non-existent peanut butter flavour honeycomb.
