It’s a trio of snacks here today all sporting the Christmas theme. Yes it is time for the battle of the gingerbread biscuits and our contenders are McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Digestives, Oreo and Sainsbury’s Custard Creams.
Gingerbread certainly seems to be the flavour of Christmas this year and I am here for it. I managed to get all three in Sainsbury’s and the prices ranged from 65p – £1.90.
The Oreo Gingerbread were the worst of all and the only good thing going for them is the cute little gingerbread design on the front of the biscuit. They have a really sweet cinnamon flavour and lack any kind of gingerbread taste, which isn’t a surprise when the ingredients have no ginger in them!
The Sainsbury’s Custard Cream Twists had a good cream to biscuit ratio and the gingerbread flavour was subtle. A good option for those that like a little spice but not too much.
I think we knew who would be the crowned the Queen in the battle of the gingerbread biscuits and that is of course the McVitie’s Digestives. Adding the chocolate is a winning combination. Akin to the warming sensation when eating Ginger Nuts, the gingerbread flavour packs a punch and is delicious.
Best stock up on the McVitie’s before they are no more!
