M&S Unicorn Steamed Buns

Prepare for the cuteness of these M&S Unicorn Steamed Buns which look almost too delicious to eat. The M&S oriental food range has increased over the years and these bao buns have come in the form of the cuddly panda, magical unicorn and even a cute bunny. These are available to buy in stores, some M&S garage stores and on Ocado. £3.40 is a little on the expensive side for two relatively small buns. These were purchased on an Ocado Flash at 40% making them far more reasonable. Surpisingly they couldn’t have been easier to cook. Pop on a plate and into…

HECK Guy Porks Sausages Limited Edition *

An autumn banger with a toffee apple twist, that’s what we have here with HECK Guy Porks. The name alone fantastic, and the packaging is apt. They were so popular last year that HECK have brought them back again this year, and they kindly gifted me some to try.  Using lean British pork, diced apple and a hint of black treacle, they too are also gluten and dairy-free. This newbie is now available exclusively in Sainsbury’s and their online web shop for this month only, and cost £3.00 a pack.  Initially the plan was to have them with mash and…

Marks & Spencer Gastropub Beef Wellington

Today’s post is a savoury number. Inspired by dishes found on gastropub menus, Marks & Spencer’s Gastropub range is ever expanding. In our house we are a huge fan of their Runny Scotch Eggs and have subsequently been eyeing up their Gastropub Beef Wellington for some time. At £14.99 it’s on the expensive side for a ready meal, but on this occasion we are taking the plunge. Cooking couldn’t be simpler. Place on a baking tray, pop in the oven for 25 minutes, and hey presto it should be a beautiful medium / rare.  British beef fillet with rich mushroom and chicken liver duxelle, wrapped…

Eating Out at The Squirrel Inn Hurtmore

The Squirrel Inn is situated just off the A3 in the village of Hurtmore and boasts a variety of locally sourced food, and the perfect place for a family gathering.  A stark comparison to the week we have had, it was a lovely sunny Saturday evening, and all the more reason to dine alfresco. For once the garden furniture was comfortable and not so squeezed together you felt you were eating on each others laps. The menu had a good mix of fish, meat and vegetarian choices that would suit everyone. Although the starters sounded rather scrummy, we skipped these and went straight…

Carluccio’s Woking

Italian restaurants, there is no shortage of them. Walk along a parade of restaurants and I can guarantee you most will be serving Italian food. With all these Italian choices can there really be much scope in the food served? What comes to mind when I say Italian cuisine? *Gino DiCampo was my first thought :)*; Second, more realistic thought – pizza and pasta. With so many Italian chains, what makes one a cut above the rest? Hot on the newly refurbished restaurant scene, Woking has welcomed Carluccio’s. Modern, glass fronted exterior and spacious floor plan with a view into the kitchen at the rear of…
