Droga Peanut Butter Bots

Droga Peanut Butter Bots

Of course it is common knowledge in my family and here on the blog that I have an obsession with peanut butter, and I eat so much of the stuff that I am probably part peanut butter by now! As part of my delightful foodie goodie bag following my Dad coming back from abroad, inside were these Droga Peanut Butter Bots. The box alone made these incredibly exciting and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.

If like me you have never heard of Droga, who are they and what do they do? Well in a nutshell Droga are reflecting on past candies and using that as inspiration to create new, irresistible treats by using traditional flavours and giving them modern twist, all whilst using premium ingredients. Currently there are 5 different products ranging from the above to Nutty Puddles and Bourbon Vanilla Salted Caramels (sounds scrummy).

Droga Peanut Butter Bots BonbonsAll natural smooth peanut butter, blended with crisped rice crunch cereal bits, enrobed in premium dark chocolate and sprinkled with delicate dark chocolate.

What I love about these is that they are not all the same and some are slightly misshapen. The presentation in little cupcake cases and foiled lid alongside the finish of the bonbons gives it that high quality edge and something a little different to your average plastic tray and wrapper.

Diving straight in look at the filling!! Now that Ladies and Gents is a filling! These bonbons were smooth from the creamy peanut butter and chocolate with the embedded tiny grains of puff rice and topping of chocolate sprinkles giving it that contrasting crunchiness. I never would have thought of popping puffed rice in there but it actually works and isn’t weird at all. The peanut butter flavour comes through subtly and lingered for a while even after I had eaten the Bot. It is as suggested a natural peanut butter flavour and marries well with the dark chocolate coating. Despite sugar being the top ingredient, and only a light coating of dark chocolate, the bitterness from the premium dark chocolate takes away that sweetness, and was definitely the perfect choice of chocolate here.

These are not what I would typical associate with a bonbon and to me are more of a take on a truffle with added crunchiness. As a whole these are the perfect size, indulgent, different and straight up yummy. Simply put Droga Peanut Butter Bots are a peanut butter winner and a must try, and hot off the Instagram press from Kevvie these are now available at Marks & Spencer and he also crowned me the Peanut Butter Queen *proud moment*!!
