Ever year I say I won’t eat Easter treats this early and every year I cave. What broke it so early this year? The hotly anticipated Oreo Creme Egg cookies which have just landed.
This limited-edition cookie promises to combine the crunch and rich cocoa taste of Oreo cookies with the indulgence of a Creme Egg. Is this pairing going to be a match made in Easter heaven?
These were bought in Sainsbury’s but you can also find them on Ocado for £1.50 a pack, or Home Bargains and B&M at around 79p a pack.
The cocoa cookies are stamped with the original Oreo but also with Creme Egg, unless you get a few rogue ones like I did that were just Oreo.
The inner filling is doing its best Creme Egg look with the yellow yolk on white fondant, but that’s where it unfortunately stops. Whilst they are sweeter than normal, I just don’t get Creme Egg. Even tasting the filling on its own is just a bit bland. Oreo biscuits are pretty strong flavour wise so all it does is overpower what little flavour these bring.
If you haven’t guessed already the Oreo Creme Egg is disappointing. These seem more of a novelty than a taste sensation. They’re nice because they are Oreo’s but if you’re looking for Creme Egg flavour you’re best off actually eating one.
Have you tried these yet?
