Eating Out at The Onslow Arms

Is it just me or is there a lack of decent pubs around nowadays? Everywhere is filled with chained restaurants with most just churning out lack lustre food with no heart and soul and charging an arm and a leg for it. We as a family have been on the lookout for a new place to eat and have heard some great things about The Onslow Arms in Clandon and decided on a whim that Friday night was the night to give it a go.  The pub itself has heaps of character with traditional features, exposed beams and a huge fireplace. Byron Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Milkshake

I have been to Byron a few times and did a review of their Camberley branch a while back which you can read here. Alongside their standard menu they have one special milkshake and as part of their One Feeds Two Programme, one special burger. 2 weeks ago an email dropped into my inbox with their new upcoming specials. The burger was here nor there for me but then I spied the Milkshake…… Byron Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Milkshake!! Actual squeals of excitement did occur! Byron Proper Hamburgers Camberley

We love a burger in our family, 9 times out of 10 it’s our go to on a menu. When you hit the nail on the head with a burger there is nothing tastier! Having not been to a Byron before we decided to have a pitstop and check it out.  Greeted by a friendly waitress we were quickly seated and given the lowdown on Byron. The menu is simple, covering your Classic to Cheese, to B-Rex and Chilli Queen. If beef isn’t your thing there’s a chicken, mushroom or bean burger on offer. No bun, no problem you can go skinny…

Eating Out at The Squirrel Inn Hurtmore

The Squirrel Inn is situated just off the A3 in the village of Hurtmore and boasts a variety of locally sourced food, and the perfect place for a family gathering.  A stark comparison to the week we have had, it was a lovely sunny Saturday evening, and all the more reason to dine alfresco. For once the garden furniture was comfortable and not so squeezed together you felt you were eating on each others laps. The menu had a good mix of fish, meat and vegetarian choices that would suit everyone. Although the starters sounded rather scrummy, we skipped these and went straight…

The Mistry Barbecue

Put your hands up if you love a barbecue. If your hand is not up, why not!! It is a fact that we love a barbecue. It has indeed been known for our family to have 4 in one week – Yes that probably constitutes borderline barbecue addicts. Last Saturday proved to be the perfect day for The Mistry barbecue. This annual shindig proves to be a feast full of food, and this year was just that.  For starters – From piled high bruschetta, to pretzels, nachos and crudités to dunk in an array of homemade dips – tzatziki, guacomole, aubergine and coriander, and a…
