7Bone Burger Co. Reading

7Bone Burger Co. Burger Onion Straws

In dire need of some food before seeing Joel Dommett, we were in search of somewhere to eat in Reading town centre when we stumbled across the 7Bone Burger Co. I don’t know if it is because I look at food most days on the net but I keep seeing their juicy looking burgers all over Facebook and Instagram and therefore there was no hesitation in giving this a go.

With their minimalist almost warehouse feel the decor appears unfinished but is almost like you have gone to this secret little underground place for a naughty foodie feast. The menu is simplistic and offers a range of the best named beef and chicken burgers I’ve ever read, as well as hotdogs and sandwiches. RedBasket Deals allow you to add a side to any main and we aren’t talking just your average side, no we are talking onion straws, dirty fries and Portswood poutine to name a few. Prices are pretty reasonable, and for a burger and regular side it was a little over £10.00.

7Bone Burger Co. Banoffee Milkshake  Banofee Milkshake

You cannot have a burger without having a shake, I am sure there is some unwritten rule there. You won’t find your traditional shakes here, instead you have almost dessert like options such as maple pecan, apple cinnamon pie and maltoreo. Banofee was the one for us and my god was it good. This was no normal banana milkshake, this tasted like caramelly banana filled pastry, seriously scrummy and was enough for us to share.

We were a little pressed for time however one needn’t have worried as from order to food being served was next to no time at all. The service was slick and timed greatly, the staff attentive but not annoyingly OTT.

Now readers let’s just take a moment to absorb and stare at the money shot right there. Isn’t that one sexy looking burger!

I like the basket idea that it is served in, I don’t like the whole paper at the bottom saga, I am pretty certain it’s impossible not to end up eating some of that paper as it very quickly rips. The burger was super tasty, and the quality was evident. You do need to eat this with a knife and fork or go for it and expect to get it down you. The ratio of cheese, bacon, sauce was good, I would prefer cheddar cheese rather than the plastic American cheese, and it would have been nice to have an option. I have no idea what was in that dirty spread but what I do know is that I wanted a whole pot of it to dunk my straws in.

Onion straws are the new onion rings and these remind me of the ones they used to do in Jo Shmo’s. Crunchy and tasty these were a bit hit and miss with some being pretty claggy and oily. The seasoned fries were okay, could have had a better cook on them but they had a nice salty and slightly spicy seasoning to them.

I think it is safe to say that this was a success and we left very happy and very full. There’s room for some improvements with the consistency in quality of the sides but aside from that it was one darn good burger, one of the best I’ve ever had and I would go back in a heartbeat. Word to the wise wear stretchy trousers and don’t think about the calories!

Have you been to the 7Bone Burger Co.? Where’s your favourite place to eat?
